Your Next Opportunity:

As the Principal Environmental Planner, your primary focus will be on spearheading the technical execution of strategic initiatives. Your expertise will be paramount in seamlessly integrating urban growth imperatives with environmental preservation.

Responsibilities Include:

• Ensuring the council is professionally advised on all relevant planning, resource management issues, case law and legal requirements
• Mentoring and upskilling of staff and ensuring projects are delivered as planned
• Representing Council in court proceedings as an expert witness
• Guiding and managing appeals and hearings
• Working with the team and across the organisation to drive consistent application of complex legislative and regulatory requirements

What You'll Bring to the Team:

To be considered for this position, you will ideally have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role and tertiary qualifications in planning, resource management, or another relevant discipline. 

To excel in this role, you'll be a skilled communicator and a technical leader, with the ability to distill complex information into actionable insights. Your expertise will extend beyond conventional planning practices, enabling you to navigate multifaceted challenges with a strategic mindset. Your ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders while also contributing to a collaborative team culture will ensure the successful implementation of transformative initiatives throughout Tauranga.
